Girls Weekend!

A much needed weekend away was achieved on September 24, and 25. Two girlfriends from school, and I went out of town for a night. We were originally going to go camping in Taylor Falls, MN but when my mom heard of this she offered up her boyfriend Toms house. They weren't going to be there and it would be more fun then camping in the cold and rain.

Friday morning I picked up Krista at her parents house and we met Janell at my moms house in Golden Valley. We all took my car up to St Croix Falls, WI. Our first stop though was taco bell for lunch, and then when we got to WI we went to a local winery that I had been to before. It is called Chateau St Croix Winery and Vineyard.

There are so many great pictures, it's hard to choose which ones to post!

I really enjoy wine tasting, and it was a blast to get to introduce it to two of my friends! I'm thinking this is something we will be able to do more often together.

After wine tasting, we stopped at this random historical view. It turned out to just be a little park with a boat launch into the river. The trees were really pretty though and turning lots of nice reds and oranges. We then got our groceries for the weekend and went to Tom's house. He lives on a lake and it was nice enough out to be able to sit down by it and have a bonfire. First off we had a heck of a time starting a fire. Two and a half days straight of rain will do that! The wood was so wet, we went though 4 books of matches. Finally though we got it started.

The burgers turned out really good. We had thought about going out on the paddle boat, so I bailed all the water out of it. It took me quite a while to do, and then we ended up not even going in it. Oh well, I found out the next morning that it was a good work out, as my shoulder muscles were sore. ha ha

There were some other fun things that happened, like the usual girl talk, Krista Skinny dipped, and cigar smoking. I went in the water earlier when it was still light out, but only up to my knees. That was enough for me. The water was really cold already. Our partying didn't last all night though. We all got tired pretty fast and were in bed by midnight. I guess that's what happens when you get older and have responsibilities that take up time and energy that used to devoted to partying and sleeping. Oh well, it was still a really fun time.

Saturday morning we were all up by 9:30. Janell and I made a fantastic breakfast of waffles, eggs, and bacon. We cleaned up, packed up, and headed out at about noon. We made some random stops on the way home too. The first place was called Fawn-Doe-Rosa. It's a random little animal park in St Croix Falls where there are fun animals to see and pet.

This deer totally didn't care that I just walked up to her and started petting her. I even hugged he rand she just sat there. Maybe it was because I had food.....I feel used now...

The Moo Cows (yes that's what I call cows) were my favorite. I think cows are the cutest thing and I just want to squeeze them with love!

We also stopped at a cute little store on highway 8. I have no idea what it's called but it has a cool giant mouse statue in front of it. They have a little restaurant in it, and things to buy like jams, cheeses, stuff like that.

Giant mouse with a wheel of cheese!

AND a moo cow!

We officially finished up the weekend with lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Forest Lake, and then went back to my moms, Janell got in her car, I drove Krista back to Shakopee, and I went home to Burnsville. I love my friends and think that this girls weekend should be a yearly thing. Maybe next time more of our school friends will be able to join us too.
