ok so maybe this isn't so interesting, but this quarter two of the classes I'm taking are Surgery and Anesthesia! They are fun, interesting and I'm really enjoying them....even if they are hard classes.
Anyways....every morning I start my day off with taking the dogs outside, and then I eat breakfast....well this Wednesday I was in a hurry and decided that I would be fine with out it. Boy oh boy was I wrong about that.
We had 3 surgeries to do in class Wednesday morning, and I was scrub nurse for the second one. I scrubbed in like normal, and was doing my assisting thing, and everything was going fine. Then it hit me like a train....I suddenly got really hot and uncomfortable. I asked Krista to loosen my face mask. (I couldn't touch it since it wasn't sterile) That didn't help and I got really sweaty....like I could feel the sweat rolling down my back. Not that you really want to know those details, but it gives you a better idea of how I was feeling. Then it seemed like the lights were WAY too bright so I told Stacie (my teacher and DVM) that I needed to sit down....well that didn't help because every time I looked up to still try and assist her with the surgery it just seemed like the lights were glaring off the instruments. Then everything started going dark so I told her that I couldn't help her anymore. Since there was no way I was going to be able to get up and walk at that point, Krista, and the other people pushed me and the stool I was sitting on, into the corner. After a little bit I felt alright and was able to walk out of the surgery suit and get some food and water.
I would like to also add, that this is not the first week of surgery or the first surgery I've seen. This is week 7 our of 10. Watching the surgery and assisting wasn't the problem. The lack of food in my stomach was the problem.
So basically I have learned that I need to keep doing what I had been doing every morning before class, and get up early enough to EAT BREAKFAST! Having to stop assisting in the middle of a surgery was somewhat embarrassing and I don't want it to happen again. That was my not so exciting excitement for Wednesday!

It's been a while
It's been a few weeks since I've written on here and since then, lots of fun, crazy, busy stuff has gone one. Everything in the new apartment is settled, the dogs are used to it, and I think are happy.
August 1st, Dad turned 50, so I drove out to to Dad and Rachel's cabin in Annandale to help them celebrate.
August 8th, after moving, I had to return Dad's truck to him, so he and Rachel met me, Tony and his parents at old country buffet in Burnsville and we all had a very nice time eating and chatting.
August 19th and 20th were hang out with Mom days. Thursday she came over to check out the new place, and we went out to lunch and ran some errands, then on Friday, Mom and I went to go see the moving Eat, Pray, Love. I was somewhat disappointed by it. I just was really slow and seemed to last forever. It's a movie that I really don't have the desire to see again, or every own.
The last week and a half was really busy. In addition to school, I also had a job interview, Dad and Rachel came over to check out the new place, and my friend Katie also came over. I hadn't seen Katie is a really long time, I think it had been almost a year, so it was really nice to catch up with her.
I can't believe that there is only 3 weeks of the quarter at school left! This summer flew by, but that's alright with me because I'm just that much closer to graduation. I will officially be done with school at the end of June, 2011, then I take the big exam that determines if you're certified or not, and then it's off into the real world and working in a clinic somewhere. My last quarter of school will be an externship, and right now I'm thinking that I would really like to go to the University of Minnesota to do that(They have a huge vet clinic there) or I would like to do it at an emergency clinic.
This past weekend, August 28, and 29 was a tractor show called Pioneer Power. This year, Tony's dad was displaying a tractor of his. On Saturday Tony and I drove it in the parade, and then on Sunday Tony and his dad drove it in the parade. I got some good pictures of them in the parade, and of them loading it back on on the trailer.

Loading up the Oliver to take it home
What a good looking father, son pair!
And lastly, today I had a second interview at a job that would be a lot of fun.....well kind of fun anyways. It's at a dog boarding facility, and it would basically be cleaning kennels, taking dogs outside, feeding them, giving them medications when needed. They also have a doggy daycare, and they are hiring too for a casual person to fill in on vacations. I talked to that manager too, so if I get this job I would get to work in both areas. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I get the job!
Until next time, enjoy the few pics I have here, and the rest will be on my facebook!

All moved in!
Man am I glad that moving is all done....at least for 13 months it is! Tony and I have been in our new apartment for a week and so far pretty much everything has gone fine. We moved in on the 7th, and had lots of help. Tony's parents, uncle, and my BFF Krista were here to help us.
The previous week Tony and I had stayed with his parents in Belle Plaine for a week because the landlord had to get our place painted at ready. This was fine with us, but then the day came to move in and there were still several issues that needed to be taken care of by the landlord. The washer was filled with dark gray water and none of the cycles worked, the screen to the bedroom window isn't attached and it's bent, the nails on the deck need to be pounded down or else one of us will be losing a toe nail at some point, the closet in the bedroom comes out of its track all the time, the bathroom door needs to be fixed because the only way it will latch is if you lift it up, and our keys were so bent that it was a battle to get them back out of the lock on the main doors.
Luckily these things are now all fixed and we are now happy. Aside from still having some boxes to go through we and the pugs are all settled in!
Other than that, midterms are next week at school. I can't believe that we are already half way through the quarter, and on Monday we get to sign up for our next set of classes. I love school, but will be happy when it's done.

crazy stressful week
This past week was incredibly stressful.
Two major things were going on. One was the normal going to class, and trying to get homework accomplished and learn something, but this quarter is only 10 weeks instead of the usual 12 weeks so more information is thrown at you each week. That in itself is stressful.
The second thing though is that Saturday Tony and I had to be out of our Northfield apartment by noon. Since I currently don't have a job, I spent the week packing up the apartment, and on Friday Tony came home at noon. We loaded up his dads truck, and my dads truck and headed to Belle Plaine. Tony's parents followed us back to Northfield and helped up load up the trucks again. One of Tony's coworkers was also with us helping. We ended up doing 2 loads with the truck I had, and 3 with the truck Tony had. The sucky thing is that we didn't get finished until 5:30a.m. It was alright though because that ment we didn't have to go back to Northfield....we are officially moved out and homeless for a week. On Saturday the 7th we get to move again, but this time to our new apartment in Burnsville.
I am so excited to be back in Burnsville, and closer to family, and school. Now I just hope I don't relalize that I need something that I packed up lol

Tractor show and Happy Birthday Krista
Me and Allis
This weekend was a very busy one for Tony and I. Friday night we packed up the dogs, and headed to Tony's parent's house in Belle Plaine. We had pizza for dinner and then spent the night. Nothing extremely exciting, but it was really nice to sit around and relax with nice people. Tony's mom set up a little fenced in area so that the dogs don't have to be on the leash all the time while there. Allis and Cloe had so much fun running around and being goofy pugs, that by the end of the weekend they were exhausted, which is just the way I like them!
Saturday we got up really early, me at 5:30am, Tony at 6am. Tony, his dad, and I all headed out to Hutchinson, MN to an antique tractor show called Orange Spectacular. I have attended this with them for the last couple years now and I enjoy it. You don't really do much, just walk around, look at tractors, and all the stuff the vendors are selling, but it's a good way to spend quality time with them.

Then Saturday night was the best part. My best friend Krista turned 30, so Tony and I drove down to Mankato to help her celebrate. Most of our friends from school drove down too, which was really nice. Quite a few people showed up and I would say all in all it was a really good time. Of course there were lots of goofy pictures of us taken, because that's just how we roll. Tony and I headed out at about 11pm, drove back to Belle Plaine to get the dogs, then continued on our way back to Northfield. We ended up getting home a little after 2am, and I went straight to bed.

Now it's Sunday and the only thing I'm doing is finishing up homework, and studying for a couple tests that are happening tomorrow in class. One of them is our math competency that we have to pass with 100%. I passed on the first try last quarter, so I think I'll be fine on this one too. Then we have a test on medical instruments, since I'm in surgery too this quarter. That one I'm not feeling so confident about, but we will see how it goes. I have the rest of today to do more studying for it.

Lots of little updates!
The past couple days have been busy ones!

Jenni P's baby shower!
Saturday the 17th I went to a baby shower for my friend Jenni. She already had her baby, who is a very cute little boy named Alex. She was only 25 weeks along so Alex will be staying at Children's Hospital for a while until he is a little bigger. Her and her husband John are really good people and have a huge support system of friends, family, and staff at the hospital to help them through these stressful times, and they are in everyone's thoughts and prayers. It was great to also see a bunch of friends at the baby shower, whom I hadn't seen in quite a while. From me, little Alex got 3 of my favorite books that I picked up at target....Goodnight Moon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See. It will be nice for Jenni and John to be able to bring the books to the hospital and read to Alex. After the shower I headed up to Moms house to get my school books. There were a bunch of tornado warnings out so then I just headed back to Northfield and laid low for the night.
Sunday was no big deal. Tony and I just relaxed around the house.
Monday marked the start of summer quarter at school. I am taking 3 classes, which totals out to 12 credits. Surgery, Anesthesia, and Comparative Hematology. Classes occur Mondays from 8am-10pm and Wednesdays from 8am-2:10pm. I am really excited for these classes, but it will be a fast, hard 10 weeks of classes. I'm ready for it though. This also means that there will be lots more fun pictures gracing my facebook page of me and my bff Krista, and tons of animals of course! It makes me so happy that I only have 9 months of classes left, and then a 3 month internship. This puts me on track to graduate end of June 2011.

Typical picture of us!
The only other new thing going on right now is I'm waiting to hear back from a potential employer. I interviewed at Lexington Pet Clinic 2 weeks ago and they said they will let me know sometime this week either way. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they want me because they see dogs, cats, and exotics. I have a working interview on Friday morning, but I really don't want to go to it. It's for mostly kennels I think. I've done that in the past and hated it, so we will see what happens. Then there is yet another clinic that said they want to interview me in August for an assistant position that will open up at the end of that month. Things are looking up so I know I will get 1 of those 3 possible jobs!

Dairy Barns
For the last three weeks I have been on break from school before summer classes start up. I quit my job here in Northfield because we are moving soon and it wasn't worth the pay and 3 hours per shift for a 30 minute drive. I'm still finding though things here and there to do to make some money until I can get a job in Burnsville.
My aunt and uncle own a company that builds and maintains milking parlors. My cousin usually goes an route with one of the guys there and helps him replace inflations/liners and deliver chemicals to lots of different dairy farms around the Rochester area. This past week though Alex was on a mission trip and my aunt and uncle needed some help. I told them that I would be more than happy to help them.
So for the last week I worked my butt off, sweated like crazy, built some muscles, and got lots of cow poop on me! I went on route with a guy named Tony who is in his 50's, delivering all kinds of chemicals to farms, and fixing and changing equipment in milking parlors. It was actually a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. I was exhausted and sore at the end of each day, but it was nice.
I learned a lot about dairy farms, and even though I wasn't directly working with animals, it still dealt with the animal world and that makes me happy!
I would definitely do this job again if Karen and Mark need help in the future!
