Cloe is 1 year old. I can't believe I've had her since last March. Even though she is a spaz of a pug, I love her to death and can't imagine not having her in the house to pester Allis (My other pug), and smother my face with kisses.
Since Christmas has just passed and I acquired a little bit of money, I decided that this would be a good time to get little Cloe spayed...it's long over due and I just don't want to deal with anymore heat cycles. Now up in my area a spay ranges in the cost of $300-$430. I didn't get that much for Christmas so that option was out. My best friend Krista lives in Mankato and offered to call around to vets in that area to see what the price tag would be for a spay. Turns out it would only cost me $150 at the same place she brought her cats, in St James, MN, so I scheduled it for Friday January 15th. It originally was scheduled for the previous Friday, but a snow storm canceled those plans.
After finding that out, the week went like this...classes like normal on Tuesday all day, Wednesday night and Thursday all day. Thursday morning though I packed a bag for the weekend, packed up Cloe, and dropped her off at my house in Burnsville, and then went to school like usual. Classes that day got done at 10:00 p.m. I headed back to my house to pick up Cloe, and then headed to Krista's house in Mankato.
Cloe and I were warmly greeted by Krista and Jasper (her dog that she adopted from school). Now I hadn't seed Jasper in about 3 weeks, and he is a completely different dog now from when he was at school. You would never know that he was rescued from a puppy mill and horrible living conditions. Karma, 1 of Krista's cats, did not appreciate having another dog in the house and hid in the closet behind the mop bucket.
Friday morning Krista and I got up at 6:30 a.m because we had to get to St. James between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. I know what you're thinking....why not just get up, throw some sweats on and get in the car? Well if you know Krista and I at all, you know that we need to have time to drink coffee together. We left around 8:00 and it's a good thing too because that area had gotten some snow and the roads were a bit slippery. We dropped Cloe off though and headed back to Mankato.
After a fabulous breakfast Krista and I went shopping for the day. I couldn't find the things I wanted but it was still a ton of fun and totally worth it to just get out and do something with someone who is good company! We made stops at Petco, C&S supply, Victoria Secret, cub, and a few other places, had dinner at TGIFridays because Krista had a gift card that would cover both of us. We had a yummy cosmopolitan that was poured over cotton candy! Sounds weird, but it was good.
We then proceeded to head back to her house and have a photo shoot! Jasper was a good sport and put up with us. To look at all my photos go to my facebook page for those of you who are friends with me on there.
Later that night we went to the tavern and had a drink...and I will say it was the best drink I have ever had. It was a lime vodka cooler and all I can say is mmm mmm mmm. I need to find out how to make those and introduce to to the world! We again then went back to Krista's house for the rest of the night to hang out and watch movies.
Karma thought that if she hid next to the garbage can, than Jasper then wouldn't be able to find her.
Saturday we woke up kind of early because Cloe had to be picked up from the Veterinary Clinic before noon, which is when they closed. Picking up Cloe was a totally different experience compared to when Allis got spayed. Allis was picked up the same day she got spayed and was so drugged up that she couldn't walk out of the clinic. I had to carry her out. That was the last time I ever went to Banfield for any kind of care for my animals. She just wasn't the same after that. Cloe on the other hand came walking out on her leash, whole body wiggling with happiness just like usual. She even barked at the two clinic cats just to make sure they knew who was the boss. They seemed un-intimidated. She did have to go into the kennel though for the car ride back to Mankato because she kept trying to get onto my lap and wouldn't sit still for Krista.
Cloe was once again happily greeted by Jasper, and were buddies for the little time that was left of our stay. I gathered my belongings and at 1:00 p.m headed home to Northfield.
